You arrived today, the 1st of June. We did not get much of a summer and fall was quite wet. But you’re here, and there’s nothing I can do about it.
While the rest of the world gets into their bikinis, the southern hemisphere begins to layer.
I wasn’t ready for you this year and thanks to a brand new heater purchased yesterday not working, I’m not ready for you this year. Still, you aren’t going to own me this year.
To be fair, we didn’t get much of a summer and fall was quite wet.
Please be kind.

Thanks to the internet, I am learning about the country I live in.
The history of down under
Not to be cynical bastards, but we think you meant the history of down under after European settlement. Landmasses don’t just suddenly pop up when ships with white people sail by; they’ve usually been there for a while.
It is nearly 6pm, quitting time for me, but I am hanging back until the scary yelling outside stops. I’m worried I’ll walk into something I don’t want to walk into if I don’t.
As trying as work can be, there are always great people out there who make your work life easier.
Sometimes they even send you emails that make you laugh for minutes at a time. Anything to get you through the day.

Who remembers when people still said this?
Or maybe it’s that people in Australia still say this?
Either way, I’m glad it came to my inbox.

I spent last weekend wandering the streets of Melbourne with my friend, Lisa. Having not seen her in over 3 months, it was so wonderful to catch up. With the weather sunny and clear, we walked until we could walk no more and most importantly, ate our way through the city.
I managed to get us on the wrong mode of transportation and instead of St. Kilda, we ended up wandering South Yarra. What do you do when you end up in the wrong place on a Saturday morning? You have breakfast.

Cafe de la Place, South Yarra
A bit of backtracking and a stop at an information booth had us on the right track to St. Kilda.

St. Kilda Botanical Gardens, St. Kilda
A little snack…

Shifu Dumpling Express, St. Kilda
A stop at the beach.

St. Kilda Beach, St. Kilda
Pavlova. We decided it was finally time we tried this Australian dessert. Verdict? eh.

The Acland Cake Shop, St.Kilda
Visits to Melbourne’s laneway cafes.

Brown Sugar Cafe, Melbourne CBD
Lisa and I come from families where we are the oldest of 3 girls, so we had to stop and take photos.

Brunswick St., Fitzroy
Full of beautiful architecture, there’s so much to see in Melbourne. A shot of Flinders Station from Federation Square.

Federation Square, Melbourne CBD
While Lisa and I won’t be seeing each other in the near future, Melbourne and I will hopefully run into each other again later this month. In the meantime, at least Lisa and I have Skype.
I’ve got an itch to travel. Must. Scratch.
