You arrived today, the 1st of June. We did not get much of a summer and fall was quite wet. But you’re here, and there’s nothing I can do about it.

While the rest of the world gets into their bikinis, the southern hemisphere begins to layer.

I wasn’t ready for you this year and thanks to a brand new heater purchased yesterday not working, I’m not ready for you this year. Still, you aren’t going to own me this year.

To be fair, we didn’t get much of a summer and fall was quite wet.

What is it about that music video that I like so much?

Is it the football shots?

Is it Grimes is living out my childhood dream of dancing and singing around sporting events- not on stage, just running through stands. Think of the freedom. Literally dancing around to her own song and because of the headphones, in her own world really. I admit I did similar things as a young child whenever my Mom would take me shopping at department stores I didn’t care for. Walkman in hand. The CD Player came a year or two later. I still remember the stares I got, mostly from adults. Way to crush a kid’s day, adults.

Or maybe I just really enjoy the song. Which I do.

It is nearly 6pm, quitting time for me, but I am hanging back until the scary yelling outside stops. I’m worried I’ll walk into something I don’t want to walk into if I don’t.

As trying as work can be, there are always great people out there who make your work life easier.

Sometimes they even send you emails that make you laugh for minutes at a time. Anything to get you through the day.

Who remembers when people still said this?

Or maybe it’s that people in Australia still say this?

Either way, I’m glad it came to my inbox.

I did it.

Well, really this is an input of about 17 different recipes that I perused. The final ingredient count consisted of whatever I had in the pantry.

Simple and very warming. With winter now here, I’ll have to make it more often.

I spent last weekend wandering the streets of Melbourne with my friend, Lisa. Having not seen her in over 3 months, it was so wonderful to catch up. With the weather sunny and clear, we walked until we could walk no more and most importantly, ate our way through the city.

I managed to get us on the wrong mode of transportation and instead of St. Kilda, we ended up wandering South Yarra. What do you do when you end up in the wrong place on a Saturday morning? You have breakfast.

A bit of backtracking and a stop at an information booth had us on the right track to St. Kilda.

My bellini and I look down upon the gorgeous city that is Sydney.

In true co-worker fashion, I said farewell to my intern, Emily, over drinks at the 360 Bar at the top of the Sydney Tower. Alcohol + one of Sydney’s best views and tourist sites = how us two American girls say goodbye.

My 5th intern farewell, it certainly wasn’t easy. I managed to hold back the heavy heart and the slight tear to after we said goodbye and headed down the steps to the train station.

It took just over an hour to do a full rotation of the tower. I highly recommend the 45 second elevator to the ride and having a drink at the bar. At just a $20 minimum spend per person, I’m sure you’ll agree that the view is priceless.
